Violin
Anna Maria Staśkiewicz is a violinist born on 8th November 1983 in Będzin.
She studied under the supervision of Marcin Baranowski at the Academy of Music in Poznań, graduating with honours in 2007. She has participated in master courses led by Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Petru Munteanu, Krzysztof Węgrzyn, Wanda Wiłkomirska, Marina Yashvili, and Tatiana Grindenko.
She has received awards at numerous violin competitions, including second prize at the Young Instrumentalists Competition in Bydgoszcz in 1999, third prize at the National Competition for Young Violinists in Lublin, first prize at the 16th National Hearing for Violinists in Elbląg, the special prize at the 5th International Karol Szymanowski Competition in Łódź, the special prize for the best performance of Wolfgang Amadeusz Mozart’s concert at the Valsesia Musica International Violin Competition in Verall (Italy), and third prize at the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznań.
Staśkiewicz has performed in Brazil, Albania, Estonia, Germany, Georgia, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Slovakia, and at many cities in Poland. She has presented her recitals in São Paulo, the Academy of Music in Hannover, Kaisersaal in Frankfurt am Main, the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Belweder Palace, the Crown Tribunal in Lublin, Artus Court in Toruń. She collaborated with such orchestras as Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Sinfonia Varsovia, Sinfonia Viva, Toruń Chamber Music Orchestra, symphonic orchestras from Warsaw, Bydgoszcz, Opole, Lublin, Łódź, Zielona Góra, Poznań, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Göttinger Symphonic Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonica Municipal in São Paulo; under the baton of such conductors as: Łukasz Borowicz, José Maria Florêncio Júnior, Jonathan Brett-Harrison, Ji Hoon Kim, Bogusław Dawidow, David Murphy, Tadeusz Strugała, Maxim Vengerov, Dorian Wilson, Agnieszka Duczmal, Vladimir Kiradjiev, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, Michał Nesterowicz, Vadim M. Perevoznikov, Tomasz Radziwonowicz, Zygmunt Rychert, Jerzy Salwarowski, Christian Simonis, Włodzimierz Szymański, Stanislav Vavrinek, Antoni Wit, Jan Miłosz Zarzycki, Ryszard Zimak.
The artist has received scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (six times), the city of Poznań (2002) and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe (2003). She also received the City of Toruń Presidential Prize (2004) and the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province Prize. She was nominated twice for the Polityka Passport award (2003, 2006) and once for the Fryderyk award (2006).
In 2010, Staśkiewicz released an album (recorded together with the pianist Marcin Sikorski), which features compositions written by Witold Lutosławski, Alfred Schnittke, and Sergiusz Prokofiew.
